A. I have lived in every part of the United States. California,Seattle,New Orleans,NY,Maine,Florida and Tennessee. By far Houston T.X. is the worst. The city is run very poorly. The people there lack sophistication and it's a mecca for illegal immigrants. It's a double standard town. I was involved in a accident with someone who did not speak english no driver's license,no insurance,no tags, nothing. This person should have went to jail. The Houston Police department shows up and says there is nothing we can do but give them tickets. Went to court guess what they did not show. If I get in a small fender bender and don't have insurance,a licence,no tags and can speak english then I go to jail. I had to fix my car myself. No one cares… [cont.]

What is the difference between Texas illegals and California illegals?
Q. I hear so much about illegal immigrants in California trashing up neighborhoods, being destestable etc.. In Texas, we have a large hispanic community which yes some are illegal while others are not. I hear some give their political reasons as to why they are against it but then I hear people talk about cultural differences and speak negatively about how their neighborhoods look and so forth. In California, are people scared of hispanics or illegal immigrants? In Texas, I don't see as many scared people. It's very odd so that is why I'm asking because stereotypically, you would think California would be more liberal than the stereotype of conservative Texas. There is a small movement against illegal immigrants and from what I've seen,… [cont.]

A. Here in California, the gang problem is MASSIVE, the schools are dumbed down because little Maria and Jose can't speak english(yet we throw about $4000/year MORE at each student only to get garbage in-garbage out), HS drop-out is rampant, there poppin out kids like Rabbits, they stop on the side of the HWY during rush hour to take a leak in full view of 10,000 people, they throw trash around like it's Tiajuanna, they don't embrace higher education, they don't speak english, they don't assimilate into society, they overpopulate our prisions, our social services...and they protest in the streets for their RIGHTS!!! shall i continue??!!

How can you become a resident of Texas in order to pay in-state tuition?
Q. I know many schools want you to live in Texas for at least 12-months, how can you prove you've lived in Texas for 12 months? What if you lived in texas for 3 months before getting a local driver's license, do schools only accept the time after you go the license or is there a way to show you've already lived in Texas before the license was recieved.
Asked by Riven - Thu Dec 14 17:37:26 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Show the school your lease with the date it was signed. They have to accept it as proof of date of residency. If lease is not in your name, show them mail addressed to you, postmarked from date of residency...mail like credit card bills, utility bills, car loan, etc.

A. You guys should reverse the recent ruling of taking Jefferson out of Texan text books. That would be a good start. Also put a bit more effort into separation of church and state, that might get you Texans out of that situation.

A. I live in Houston and there's a lot to do here, but I hate to say that our crime rate is rising. Where I would suggest is either San Antonio or Austin. In San Antonio you have the River Walk and that's great! Either place you can have a lot of fun. Good luck

How can you tell if a Texas brown tarantula is a male or female?
Q. My dad found a (what we are 99% sure is) Texas Brown tarantula in our neighbors backyard. They let us keep it and now we are wondering if its a male or female. If anyone knows how to tell the sex of a Texas Brown tarantula please tell us. Thank you!

A. The male has tibial hooks after molting. Males are a long-legged spindly spider with tan carapace, brown abdomen, and long black fuzzy legs. Females bodies are more stocky with thicker legs. Also not all tarantulas have mating hooks. These are more common in new world species. These are truly great spiders, and are very docile. Good luck with your new pet.

Q. The Governor of Texas is empowered by the Texas Constitution of 1876 to appoint: a. the Texas Attorney General to office. b. the three members of the Texas Railroad Commission to office. c. the Texas Secretary of State to office. d. the Lieutenant Governor of Texas to office.
Asked by keeblenguyen - Sun Nov 2 22:29:32 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The answer is C. All the other offices are elected by the people of Texas. When people from other states voted for George W. Bush, some were impressed that he was governor of Texas. Under our state constitution - the Constitution of 1876 - the Texas governor has nearly no power at all. My dog could be Texas governor and not mess things up. Heck, even Rick Perry could do the job!

Why is the architecture of houses in Texas so similar across the state?
Q. I've seen the exteriors and interiors of several houses throughout West and South Texas, and they all seem to follow the same pattern: One-storey bungalows, with wood-panelling in many rooms, and relatively low ceilings. Why are many built in this fashion - is it a particular architectural/cultural style? Are there many two-storey houses in Texas?
Asked by Boomer Rat - Mon Jan 18 06:41:21 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You have your big house builders who are across the state and thus use the same building designs over and over. Also it is a matter of "what works". Just like up north they have a certain way of doing things that include basements or crawl spaces depending on the frost line. You also have historical styling in play as well. In the Northeast you have this long but thin style. Well down here the use of brick is huge. One part is the durability and protective values of brick. Also in the pre-A/C times the use of Brick also had to do with keeping the home cool. The brick absorbs the cold of the night and then as the day comes the brick keeps the home cool and then at night it releases the heat and helps keep the house warm.

What is the average court reporting salary in Texas? What schools or classes are required for a license?
Q. I have so many questions about this. I hear that court reporters in California can make up to $100,000, but what is the average income of court reporters in Texas, specifically Houston and surrounding areas? What is the starting salary and the average maximum? How much experience is needed to make the maximum? How demanding is this job as far as work hours? And lastly, what schools or classes are needed to become licensed? I've been researching the income and usually end up with mixed results anywhere from $40,000 to $80,000. There is a pretty big gap there. I currently make around $40K/year, but $80K is ideal. I don't know how big of a demand there is for court reporters in Texas, but it seems like something I'd enjoy doing, although… [cont.]

A. Court reporters had median annual earnings of $42,920 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $30,680 and $60,760. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $23,690, and the highest paid 10 percent earned more than $80,300. Median annual earnings in May 2004 were $41,070 for court reporters working in local government. Both compensation and compensation methods for court reporters vary with the type of reporting job, the experience of the individual reporter, the level of certification achieved, and the region of the country.
