From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Medicine is the science and art (ars medicina) of healing. It encompasses a range of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness. Before scientific medicine, healing arts were practised in accordance with alchemical treatments and ritual practices that developed out of religious and cultural traditions. The term "Western medicine" was until recently used to refer to scientific and science-based practices to distinguish it from "Eastern medicine" — which are typically based in traditional, anecdotal, or otherwise non-scientific practices. Contemporary medicine applies health science, biomedical research, and medical technology to diagnose and treat injury and disease, typically through medication, surgery, or some other form of therapy. The word medicine is derived from the Latin ars medicina, meaning the art of healing. Though medical technology and clinical expertise are pivotal to contemporary medicine, successful face-to-face relief of actual suffering continues to require the application of ordinary human feeling and compassion, known in English as bedside manner. GNU Free Documentation License What medicine to take for a female bladder infection? Q. A relative has bladder infection and I want to know what to take as an alternative to Cipro 500mg. I read Cipro makes bones hurt and has various side effects that my relative is experiencing. Any over the counter medicine that my relative can take to make the bladder infection not hurt? We tried Acetaminophen but that dont work. Thank you. Asked by vicpal25 - Mon Nov 24 16:40:51 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. No, if you have an infection, you need an anti-biotics. Have you ever taken Cipro? It is very good when treating bacterial infections. Here are some commonly used medications below: * Amoxicillin * Doxycycline (should not be used under age 8) * Cephalosporins * Nitrofurantoin * Sulfa drugs (sulfonamides) * Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxa zole * Quinolones (should not be used in children) Answered by imarockstar - Mon Nov 24 16:45:43 2008 What medicine is highly effective in getting rid of sebhorreic dermititis? Q. I have an annoying condition of sebhorriec dermititis. Now that it's getting cold, the condition is worstening! I'm really tired of going through this EVERY winter. I've all ready tried selenium sulfite 2.5% and i didn't see any results! Plz is there a medicine that is highly effective (for brown skin people) in curing this annoying condition? Asked by Jibreel H - Sun Oct 25 08:51:16 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. The main cause of seborrheic dermatitis is overreaction of the immune system. Keeping it in a balanced state is the key point of battling this disease. I try to eat healthy food and avoid stress as much as I can. After using number of prescription drugs I've turned to the natural treatments. Now I use anti-psoriasis herbal remedies from serenaskin.com, which aim at the root of the disease - the immune system, and are steroid-free. After about 2 weeks of using ointment and spray my skin has been cleared up and now I just continue with anti-psoriasis extract, which controls the immune system. My skin has been clear for months now. It is the only treatment I have found that provides me complete relief when I use it as directed. Q. My son is taking antibiotics for an ear infection. I use a syringe to give him the medicine. A little water stays in it when i was it, and has gotten into the medicine bottle. Will this alter the affectiveness of the medicine? Asked by roxy - Fri Oct 23 14:24:28 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. It can. It can water down the medication so that when you give the prescribed dose, some of that is water and he's not getting the right dose. Just take the syringe apart after you use it and dry it before using it again.
